Episode 43: Hold the Dark & Support the Girls

It’s been a few episodes since Hemant talked Star Wars. In episode 43 he reacts to some recent news regarding the “galaxy far, far, away”. He also re-watched Solo: A Star Wars Story which was just released on Bluray, so he chats a bit about the film, as well as some special features on the disk.

It’s then time for the two featured reviews for the week including Jeremy Saulnier’s latest film Hold the Dark, as well as the indie film Support the Girls from director Andrew Bujalski.

Episode 41: Degrassi High: School’s Out & Ocean’s 8

Remember that time I mentioned that one of my iTunes movie purchases disappeared for a while then eventually showed up again? Well, it turns out that a guy recently reported that three of his purchases went missing, and the internet blew up when Apple responded.

In this episode I discuss what happened and why I will smugly continue to buy physical copies of films on Bluray and DVD.

I then share my thoughts on Ocean’s 8 which was released on Bluray last week, and extends the Ocean’s series of films.

It’s then onto a made for TV film from 1992 which brought an end to the Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High Canadian TV series. Why did I seemingly watch this movie out of nowhere? Well the actors Pat Mastroianni and Stacie Mistysyn who played Joey Jeremiah and Caitlin Ryan in the series were hosting a screening of the film at a local theater.

And being a huge fan of those series during my childhood, I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take in this event. I talk about the screening, the Q&A that followed, as well as why Degrassi was so important to me as a kid, and how it revolutionized TV for children.
